Supporting this venue is another historic South Australian circuit, Mallala, with deep racing roots that is still hosting key events and expanding into new offerings like go-karting, it blends heritage with modern motorsport innovation to create exciting experiences for fans and drivers alike.

The Role

This role will put you at the forefront of innovation across two of Australia’s most iconic motorsport venues—The Bend and Mallala so this is your chance to lead, shape, and elevate the tech landscape behind world-class racing, entertainment, and guest experiences.

This isn’t your average IT role as ensuring systems for race timing, broadcast systems, AV, IPTV, trackside communications and handling cutting-edge technologies that bring events to life will be your hands-on role with us.

You’ll collaborate with dynamic teams and top-tier production partners to deliver flawless, high-energy moments where precision is everything where your expertise will directly impact the success of major events and where your ideas will drive the future of motorsport technology.

The role is based in Tailem Bend so you might live close by, be happy to move closer or enjoy a daily drive 45 – 75 mins from the CBD depending on your run.

Key Responsibilities
Race & Track Technologies
  • Manage and maintain race timing systems (MyLaps, Dorian, Natsoft, PortaTree).
  • Maintain Alitrax safety light systems and in-car data/video platforms (VBOX, Race Navigator).
  • Oversee distribution, maintenance, and improvement of ClearComm and Hytera radio communications.
  • Maintain power and fibre optic systems across MRC tracks.
Broadcast & AV Operations
  • Plan and deliver IT, AV, and race tech for small and major events.
  • Collaborate with external broadcast teams to integrate TV infrastructure around tracks.
  • Manage and evaluate external AV and broadcast service providers.
  • Operate and maintain Q-Sys audio, Exterity IPTV systems, and venue big screens (fixed and mobile).
  • Support Rydges conference AV requirements as needed.
Facility-Specific Systems
  • Oversee the maintenance and performance of all venue-specific IT and AV systems:
    • Kartdrome: bespoke booking & timing
    • Dragway: DMX & light tower networking
    • Villas: iRisco, Elsema, Teltonika systems
    • Rydges: infrastructure assistance in collaboration with EVT IT
    • Mallala: cross-trained in timing operations
General IT & Support
  • Act as first point of contact for onsite technical support and system outages.
  • Manage the relationship with the Managed Service Provider (MSP), including ticketing, vendor relationships, hardware, software licensing, and user onboarding/offboarding.
  • Support staff with end-user issues and IT system updates.
  • Lead documentation of technical processes, system guides, and user manuals.
Team & Vendor Leadership
  • Supervise and delegate work to the IT Coordinator, ensuring project progress and task completion.
  • Represent the IT department at huddles and operational meetings.
  • Manage all IT/AV/Security vendor and contractor works onsite.
  • Oversee Integriti and Salto security systems, including hardware, keycard, and access management.
  • Plan and monitor annual IT and tech budgets in line with business objectives.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience in IT operations, AV systems, or event technology management—preferably in fast-paced environments like sport, entertainment, or hospitality.
  • Strong technical understanding of race timing systems, AV setups, and venue IT infrastructure.
  • Skilled in managing vendors, coordinating with MSPs, and implementing technology upgrades.
  • Excellent troubleshooting abilities and hands-on problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to manage complex systems across multiple locations and events.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal departments, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in systems like Q-Sys, Exterity IPTV, DMX, Salto, and security/AV platforms.
  • Commitment to staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Experience with documentation, policy development, and IT governance.
  • Leadership experience and a collaborative mindset to work across departments and functions.
  • Current Driver’s Licence, Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
