  • Climate resilience: Increased private capital flowing towards climate adaptation and resilience.
  • Nature: Nature is valued and integrated into financial decision making.
  • First Nations: First Nations rights and interests are embedded in financial decision making while improving access to finance to drive equity and economic self-determination.
  • Communities Finance: Communities have increased access to place-based financial products and improved financial inclusion.
  • Capability: Shifting capability, mindsets and leadership for sustainability.
The Role
As Project Manager - International Engagement, you will play a pivotal role in expanding ASFI's global influence in sustainable finance through strategic international partnerships and collaboration. Building on the success of Australia's groundbreaking Sustainable Finance Taxonomy, you will support the International Sustainable Finance Manager to work with government, not for profit, industry and academic partners in delivering ASFI’s international engagement agenda.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing bilateral engagement programs in Indonesia and China: project planning, management and reporting, stakeholder engagement, research and analysis, developing communication materials, and planning and delivering events such as senior stakeholder roundtables, public diplomacy initiatives and technical workshops.
  • Supporting ASFI’s input to multilateral processes and organisations such as the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), a potential Australia-hosted COP31 Conference, and multilateral taxonomy harmonisation initiatives and international transition finance initiatives.
  • Organising an ASFI delegation to London Climate Action Week: development of an engaging program with ASFI members and partners from industry and government.
  • Supporting ASFI’s domestic program of engagement with industry to pilot and implement the Australian Sustainable Finance Taxonomy and other aspects of the Australian Sustainable Finance Roadmap.
About You
With a relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in finance, public policy, law, economics, international relations, environment or a related discipline, you will possess 1-3 years’ professional experience in a sustainability related role, and a demonstrated understanding of how sustainability is integrated into investment and financing considerations by the finance sector.

Previous experience working domestically and internationally in sustainable finance, climate or sustainability policy within consulting, government, or the finance sector will be highly regarded.

You thrive on open communication, transparency and are energised by a dynamic work environment. You are a proactive and motivated individual who takes initiative, demonstrates independence, and drives tasks forward without requiring constant supervision. You have excellent attention to detail, and good judgment in dealing with stakeholders on sensitive topics. You have good aptitude and willingness to learn new content, including stakeholder dynamics.

Additionally, you will have:
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research and analytical skills.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical analysis capabilities.
  • Unwavering commitment to continuous quality improvement in both organisation and personal performance.
  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills, including working with colleagues across different cultures, disciplines and geographies.
The Rewards and Culture
Be part of a purpose-driven organisation with a great culture and ambition to make a game-changing impact on sustainability and social impact through finance. You work with industry, government, regulators, and civil society to significantly shape the future of sustainable finance in Australia and unlock capital for climate, environment, and social impact that benefits all Australians.
Not only will you be aligning capital with environmental and social goals, but you will also be part of an organisation that has embedded flexibility around location, hours and how you choose to work, prioritising work: life balance. There is a preference for the individual to be based in Canberra, with flexibility to work from home on specific days.
