Mechanical Engineer (hybrid role of 3D Design, FEA work and Project Management)

Client:

Central Coast location, or flexible for the correct person, Company provides Large Industrial Engineering solutions for mining, water & wastewater industries. Employing 500+ worldwide have a new position for a Mechanical Engineer within the Engineering team.


Job:

Mechanical Engineer with between 5- and 10-years’ experience, 80% mechanical design work and 20% structural design work. Responsible for large and BULK equipment Design. Working closely with Project Managers and Lead Engineers, visiting sites and meeting with key clients to ensure timely manufacture of equipment and components. Hand calculations and FEA work as well as daily and weekly report writing.


Daily Duties:

• Undertake Engineering Design Assignments
• Develop concept designs with 3D – conveyors, rail and train loading equipment
• Hydraulic oil design experience
• FEA analysis
• Prepare reports and undertake supporting calculations for both mechanical and structural elements of designs
• Assist drafters in developing the design of products and assist with BOM’s and tender documents
• Provide or learn to provide Engineering technical assistance during project installation, commissioning at water / wastewater or mine sites
• Contribute to new product development and continuous improvement project techniques

To be successful for this role:

• Degree educated Mechanical Engineer
• More than 5 years’ experience within Capital / Rotational or Material Handling Design
• Experience with Solidworks, Inventor or NX
• Understanding of OH&S guidelines
• Excellent continuous improvement skills
• Willing to travel post COVID, 4 trips per year, 1 to 2 weeks at a time visiting client
