Sales Engineer

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for pre-sales and develop customer solutions.
  • Develop technical solutions and provide specific technical information upon request.
  • Work with sales and marketing to provide pre-sales application engineering support in order to provide additional value to customers. This will include traveling to customer facilities with sales and marketing personnel when additional technical expertise is required.
  • Provide engineering support to the customer base in the assigned region and inside/outside sales personnel by answering technical questions concerning Datacenter Solutions. Act as liaison between customers and the BU (PLM, PMO, Engineering) by forwarding customer technical requests and coordinating communication and follow-up with customers on results of requests.
  • Technical hands-on work by setting up and configuring demo's at customer sites or marketing events and supporting the customer during the evaluation.

Accountability / Impact
Provide technical pre-sales support to the sales teams, business partners, and end-users for Datacenter Solutions. Through coordinated efforts with sales, participates in the sales and customer relationship management process by providing technical expertise to meet assigned revenue and sales objectives.

Required Qualifications for Consideration
  • Five or more years of telecommunication experience
  • Experience with fiber optic cable and connectivity products
  • Able to proceed with considerable freedom and conduct own projects, making evaluations and providing recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and digital literacy, including PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel upwards of 50% in normal circumstances.
  • Able to work occasionally in extreme outdoor environments.
  • A high degree of integrity due to exposure to sensitive sales data and strategic product plans.


Desirable Qualifications Job Specifications
  • SAP experience
  • A bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical subject area
  • Two or more years of progressive technical product experience; internships may qualify.
  • Able to function independently and exercise judgment to react to situations in a timely manner.
