About the Role We are seeking skilled and motivated Data Analysts at the APS5 and APS6 levels to join our clients dynamic and forward thinking team. These positions play a key role in delivering data driven insights to support government priorities, policy development, operational decision-making, and public service delivery.
As a Data Analyst, you will work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to collect, analyse, interpret, and visualise data. Your work will directly inform strategic initiatives and improve outcomes for Australians.
Key Responsibilities APS5 Data Analyst
Perform routine data analysis and reporting to support team objectives.
Assist in the development and maintenance of databases, dashboards, and visualisation tools.
Ensure data integrity, quality, and compliance with relevant privacy and security standards.
Contribute to the preparation of reports, briefings, and presentations.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather and clarify requirements.
APS6 Data Analyst (in addition to APS5 responsibilities)
Lead more complex data projects with minimal supervision.
Design and implement advanced analytical models and methodologies.
Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
Mentor junior staff and contribute to building data literacy across the team.
Drive innovation in data use and analytics capability within the agency.
About You We are looking for individuals who possess:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience working with data tools such as SQL, R, Python, SAS, Excel, or Power BI.
The ability to translate data into actionable insights and communicate findings clearly.
A high level of attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.
APS6 candidates should also demonstrate experience in leading data projects, stakeholder engagement, and mentoring or coaching team members.
Eligibility
Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline (or higher) security clearance.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in data science, statistics, mathematics, economics, IT, or a related field are highly regarded.
