Role: Social Worker
Duration: Contract (Until 30th of September)
Pay rate: $51 - $80 per hour plus super
Working hours: 7 hours per day / 35 hours per week
Location options: Sydney, Parramatta, Wollongong, Gosford and Newcastle
  
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement decision-making plans for individuals under guardianship, maintaining accurate records and conducting both individual and systemic advocacy to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for senior officers, the Public Guardian, and NCAT, and attend tribunal hearings as required.
  • Exercise delegated decision-making authority in line with legislation and internal policies to support the rights and interests of clients.
  • Supervise and support Guardians and support staff, offering guidance on complex cases and approving their reports.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including families, carers, service providers, and other professionals, to address complex or contentious client matters.
  • Conduct regular visits to clients in accordance with Guardianship Standards, ensuring their well-being and rights are upheld.
  • Stay informed about local services and infrastructure, building expertise in supports related to guardianship, disability, aged care, and mental health.
  • Advocate effectively with external agencies (e.g., NDIA, aged care providers, mental health services) to create or improve service options for clients, especially in complex or precedent-setting situations.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor or Masters level Social Work, Psychology or Allied Health qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience implementing decision making plans and undertaking individual and systemic advocacy.
  • Demonstrated experience producing high-quality written reports, submissions and recommendations to the relevant division of the government body
  • Supervise and assist staff by providing support, advice and direction in relation to complex cases and situations

Essential Criteria:
  • Driver’s license is necessary for this position
  • Rights to Work in Australia
